Tiree is the ultimate EUWSC trip. We have been heading here since time began (back in 1984 or thereabouts). The island is in the Atlantic, slap bang in the middle of the gulf-stream so warm, wavy and windy conditions are common. There are nice sandy beaches on all sides of the island, so there are ideal conditions for all individual standards of windsurfing or surfing somewhere on the island most of the time.
The club makes a week long trip to Tiree once a year, usually in the second week of the Easter holidays. the cost is usually about £160. A number of other Scottish University Clubs head there at the same time (usually Glasgow and Aberdeen), and there are traditionally plenty of parties. In fact the only problem with Tiree is motivating yourself to get out of bed in the morning after the geity of the previous evening.
Willy Angus, the owner of a local windsurf shop puts on competitions during the week to win kit, bags, etc. There is usually a beginners' race, a wave-sailing event and a surfing competition. All competitors get a T-shirt. On the last night, the winners are announced, and all the tourists challenge the locals to a boat-race, which the locals always win.
